Feedback Thoughts

I feel like with our school system as you mentioned we are so focused on how grades determine us and that limits us to trying out new things. I feel like I can even personally agree with this because when I am used to receiving the same good grades for doing the same things I have always done, it makes me not want to try new things for fear of getting a bad grade. This is a sad way to think but I feel like we have been trained to think like this since a very young age. After looking at the articles you have provided there were two in particular that caught my attention:  Why it's so hard to Hear Negative Feedback  and  Why Rejection Hurts so Much . These both simply caught me by the titles and I really found them to apply to me and I wanted to hear what each author had to say. After reading the first article I really liked how the author phrased that we are so scared of negative feedback because we are scared to hear ways to better ourselves. This is mindblowing bec...

Topic Brainstorm

I chose to look back over the storybooks that initially caught my attention and recall why they in fact did catch my attention. Using that initial attraction made me want to further learning about these traditional stories and add my own style to them. My four possible topics to write my storybook over include: To Love and To Lose . This storybook attracted my attention because as I have mentioned many times before I find myself always drawn to anything that has to do with love. So initially the title is what grabbed my attention. I am not very familiar with any Indian epics so all of these are new to me. Another thing I like about this story is that not only does it have to do with love, but loss as well which adds drama. Adding drama to a story in my opinion keeps me a lot more engaged and I feel like I could put a fun twist on it. I am excited to learn more about how Hidimbi chose love over blood and how this broke her heart and caused her to lose everything. I am also interest...

Week 2 Story

Welcome to the town of Ceylon where the feeling is quite gloomy and chilling and the only inhabitants are Goblins....she Goblins.  They roam this town day and night waiting for precious travelers to arrive to lure them in and turn them into a tasty feast. What the she Goblins were unaware of was that these travelers about to arrive were unlike ones they had ever seen before. One gloomy afternoon as the she Goblins appetites had turned into starvation one had noticed a crashed ship by the shore. They quickly rushed over and noticed 500 beautiful men that had looked like no other.  They played their act of caring, helpful, and innocent women and brought the men back to what once was a chilling town, now full of a false community. The men felt so welcomed and safe and so infatuated with these women. They stayed in hopes of starting a new future. In almost no time man after man was falling in love with these astonishing women that the she Goblins played out to be. To much surprise...

Reading Notes: Week 2 Anthology

After reading the eight short stories there were two in particular that stood out to me. The first one was  W. H. D. Rouse: Goblin City  and the second was  Ellen C. Babbitt: The Foolish, Timid Rabbit .  I really enjoyed reading Goblin City because I enjoy fictional stories and I feel like I could put a fun spin on it. My notes for this story are: This takes place in the city of Ceylon which is present-day Sri Lanka The city was full of she goblins, who were looking for husbands They would find travelers, force them to marry, then once they were bored of them they would eat them One day a shipwrecked full of 500 sailors and the she goblins came down innocently to win the hearts of these sailors over by assisting them They used their magic to create a false community of people to give false hope to these sailors The she goblins finally convinced the sailors to marry them out of pity One night the captain awoke and watched his wife eat up her old husband in fear ...

Week 2 Reading Overview

For my week three selection of the Ramayana, I have selected your option of the Tiny Tales. I have decided to pick this reading option because I know professors work hard on writing textbooks or any books in general so I would like to put in the time to read what you have taken the time to write for us! Also, I feel like since I am quite unfamiliar with this class your readings will give me a better segway into understanding the material better. I also like that you said each story will be 100 words, but will still give an in depth understanding of what is going on. I feel like when I read super long stories I get lost with what is actually important so this may help me stay focused and understand the story better. The two comic books that caught my attention were  Harishchandra: The King Who Chose Rags Over Riches  and  The Hidden Treasure: Wisdom Wins A War . I looked at the hero/heroine tab and folktales tabs because I feel like those are the two topics that mo...
