My Time Strategies

The two articles that I chose to read about were  How To Beat Procrastination  and  11 Ways Unsuccessful People Mismanage Their Time  and I definitely found these to be useful. I will admit that I have quite the problem of procrastination, but I like to tell myself that it actually forces me to get my work done. This is definitely not a healthy mentality to have because I get super stressed out when I do push my work off until the very last minute. These articles really gave some insightful tips and I hope that I really do apply them because it would make my life so much easier. The second article really grabbed my attention by the title because for myself one of my biggest fears is being unsuccessful so I hope to avoid those 11 ways of managing my time in the future. I really do think my biggest struggle of the semester is going to be trying to push off the assignments, but I am going to try and apply these tips from the articles to avoid this and avoid the st...

Thoughts on Technology

After reading the information about the tools we will be using throughout the semester, I surprisingly feel at ease. I am definitely not very tech-savvy, but with the layout of what we will be using, I feel like it is very manageable and understandable. I was able to go step by step and turn on the spell check and word count extension as well as organize my bookmarks and I already feel more prepared. I have definitely heard of the majority of the tools that were listed and actually, I already had Grammarly added as an extension, which I find to be very helpful when writing. The online environment is definitely a lot different than what I am used to...I would say it's a lot more lonely, but sadly we all have to adjust to it and I am trying my hardest. I think my goal in terms of web skills would be creativity. I feel like the rest will be easy to catch onto, but I really want to focus on bringing out my creativity in creating eye-catching posts, websites, designs, etc. (How I Feel ...

My Thoughts on the Weekly Assignments

After looking through the document of basically how the semester and each week is going to look like assignment-wise and extra credit-wise, I'm not going to lie I am a little overwhelmed. I know that in the end once I start a routine I will get used to the workload and hopefully it will be fun so I won't have to worry about dreading doing it. I guess I am just a little nervous right now but I am ready to dedicate time and bring out my creativity. I think what I am most intrigued by is the storytelling part. I think these assignments will really get me thinking because you get to put your own spin on a story that you read and I find that to be super interesting. I think this course is honestly nothing like I have ever taken before because I have never taken a class in which you focus on storytelling lol. I mostly take a lab or science-based courses so this is definitely a different dynamic that I am ready to take on. The extra credit option that stood out to me was being able t...

My Thoughts on Growth Mindset

After watching Carol Dweck's Ted talk and her other short video, I find myself completely agreeing with what she had to say about how children in America are taught and how they are rewarded for the wrong reasons perse. Before watching these videos I had never heard of Carol Dweck, nor have I ever specifically heard of Growth Mindset. I have heard of similar approaches, but never knew it had a specific name. On the spectrum of the growth or fixed mindset, I don't know exactly where I fall. I like to believe that I am always up for new challenges and pushing myself to learn about things I had never even thought about. In that case, if that really is true then I believe I fall under the growth mindset (I do have my lazy days though where I probably prefer the fixed mindest....we all can't be perfect all the time). While being at OU, I have learned that sadly I do find happiness not necessarily in the challenges of some of my classes but rather in the outcome of my grade from...

Introduction to the not so Fabulous Life of Luda

Hi first off I would like to introduce myself. My name is Luda....just like the rapper Ludacris. I am a biology pre-med major and I think the coolest thing about my major would have to be that hopefully one day I can not only potentially save lives, but at least make an impact in someone's life. Last semester the best class that I took would have to be biology 2 (yes ironic), but I really do enjoy learning about all different types of biology and learning about how the body functions from something as small as the firing of a neuron and I'm excited to dive deeper into those things this semester. Although I do love biology.... organic chemistry has got to be my biggest enemy. I have never experienced a harder class in my life and I truly cannot wait to be done with that! I would have to say for accomplishments my biggest one last semester was staying healthy and avoiding getting the Coronavirus all while living in my sorority house haha. Now aside from school, some hobbies that...

My Three Storybook Favorites

After looking at people's past storybook, there were three that stood out to me all for various reasons. The first that caught my attention was  Goddess of Contagion . This one stood out in particular to me because of the title. I had many speculations on what this story would be about and when I opened it, I was caught by surprise. This story took a spin on incorporating the contagion of the Corona Virus, which is something that is very prevalent in today's world. I really found this to be interesting and wanted to read more because the author took a traditional story and added something that many people can relate to. I think the introduction was very concise but still very informative of what to expect in the story, but at the same time left me wanting to learn and read more. I also found it easy to navigate from the introduction to the actual story and so on. (Amman:  Goddess of Medicine ) The next storybook that caught my attention was  Another Love Story . I a...

NYC, Dallas, San Francisco...My Favorite Places

New York City, New York is one of my all-time favorite cities to visit in the United States. I have been traveling to the city every single year for the past ten years throughout all of the seasons for all types of reasons. Everything from riding the subways, going to broadway shows to exploring all the different suburbs of the city mesmerizes me and makes it an experience that I never want to end. Even though I've been to the city so many times, I never find myself bored, in fact, I always seem to learn more than I ever thought. I find myself also intruded with the constant motion in the city. I love seeing the mass amounts of people on the streets and watching people go on with their days. A dream that I have always had is to get to experience working in a hospital in New York City. With the density of the population of the city, I would have the opportunity to expose myself to all types of patients that I may never have the opportunity to care for in a small city. I hope to a...
