Hi first off I would like to introduce myself. My name is Luda....just like the rapper Ludacris. I am a biology pre-med major and I think the coolest thing about my major would have to be that hopefully one day I can not only potentially save lives, but at least make an impact in someone's life. Last semester the best class that I took would have to be biology 2 (yes ironic), but I really do enjoy learning about all different types of biology and learning about how the body functions from something as small as the firing of a neuron and I'm excited to dive deeper into those things this semester. Although I do love biology.... organic chemistry has got to be my biggest enemy. I have never experienced a harder class in my life and I truly cannot wait to be done with that! I would have to say for accomplishments my biggest one last semester was staying healthy and avoiding getting the Coronavirus all while living in my sorority house haha. Now aside from school, some hobbies that I love include cooking and baking and making lots and lots of TikTok's. I found myself making and baking all sorts of goods during break and especially during quarantine....which in turn to compensate for all those calories I would make lots of TikTok dances lol. Although I do love to cook, there's one ingredient that I absolutely cannot add to my dishes....cilantro. Something about the green leaf and its very distinct horrible taste just pushes me over the edge. Although I can't cook in my sorority house, I love to watch cooking shows such as master chef junior and such. I also LOVE reality tv. Every Monday night you can catch me watching the bachelor and being in awe of Matt James. So if anyone needs any reality tv show recommendations I am the girl for you. In all seriousness though I hope for this semester to go smoothly and hope that everyone can stay safe and I am so excited to learn more about this class!
(Ludacris A.K.A me)
Hello Luda, I am also going to be entering the medical field one day and I could not be more excited to help people one day. I did not do much over quarantine except watched a lot of tv, went on runs, and hung out with my family. I think quarantine was kind of a blessing in disguise because I was able to spend more time with loved ones and work on myself. I hope this semester treats you well and good luck in the future!
ReplyDeleteHey Luda!
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone in your love for biology. In my Freshman year, I took intro to biology, and have since been back to TA that class three times! I just can't seem to get enough. I just view it as comforting, because it means that we have definitely picked the right field to go into! Good luck with OChem!
Hi Luda, whenever I first came into OU I was undecided as my major. I took a few classes like Chemistry and Biology and just knew that I was not going to enjoy that route if I chose it. I have to applaud you on choosing that career route, its not for everybody. I do also enjoy going on to TikTok, although I have only made a couple, it takes up a lot of my day.
ReplyDeleteHi Luda! I am a premed senior so I can understand the journey you're going through; I wish you the best with organic chemistry (and with biochemistry later on, which I felt like was the hardest class I ever took). I have a friend who also detests cilantro, and we looked it up and saw that some people apparently have a gene that makes cilantro taste like soap? I am not totally sure of the details, but cilantro tastes fine to me so I haven't worried about it much, haha.
ReplyDeleteHey Luda! It’s nice to meet you. As a solid humanities major, it blows my mind to hear you pre-med majors talk about enjoying your science classes. I am so glad that you do, though!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, keeping away from the virus in a sorority house sounds like an amazing feat. I’ve had a hard enough time and I only live with two other people!
If something good HAD to come out of this pandemic mess, it’s that so many people have had time for hobbies. I’m glad you like to cook! That’s one of my favorites, too, but I’m too shy to make TikTok dances, unfortunately, so I have to burn my extra calories in the gym.
I also completely understand how cilantro can be overpowering. I enjoy it, but I’ve definitely gone a bit too heavy on some meals. I hope you continue to stay covid-free and have a great semester!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool about connecting your name to Ludacris, Luda! When I saw your name on the roster, I was excited because I recognized it as a Slavic name (I studied Polish in school and I lived in Poland, where Ludmila is a popular name, but I am sure Ludacris is popular in Poland too; I bet Ludacris is famous EVERYWHERE now). And I hear you about staying covid-free in group housing like that: I sometimes get these pandemic nightmares that I'm in some crowded place and no one is wearing a mask. I really don't mind wearing a mask at all, but especially where I live (very rural), lots of people won't wear masks and it makes me feel so nervous, even when distancing. And that is great to find out here about your cooking AND dancing: it's like Bhima for cooking and Arjuna for dancing there in Virata's court, both of the Pandava strategies! And that is so funny about cilantro: there really IS something about cilantro that is a total turn-off for people; I had a friend who felt so sick from the smell of cilantro she couldn't even be in a restaurant where they were chopping cilantro back in the kitchen: the tiniest smell would make her sick. It's like "the princess and the pea" but with cilantro. They use cilantro in India too, but more in the ground coriander form: ground coriander. At least you know to watch out! Maybe Bhima can share your cilantro-aversion, ha ha. You get to imagine him cooking exactly what you want him to cook! :-)
Hey Luda!
ReplyDeleteI also have a love for biology. Organic chemistry is one of those classes that people either love and do well or hate and do poorly in. I love to bake! My sister is the one who does the cooking, so we make the perfect pair. There is a genetic predisposition where some people cannot stand cilantro because to them it takes like soap. I also hope that this semester goes smoothly too.
Hi Luda,
ReplyDeleteI am myself a pre-med major and I share the love for biology as well. I think that learning about the world around us and how it functions interest me a lot. Moreover, I also love Organic Chemistry because for me I was able to look at things differently around me after learning about it. I wish you the best for the rest of you major. I hope that you will take amazing classes and fall in love with it just like biology.
Hello Luda, it’s so nice to meet you! I also love watching cooking shows; I grew up watching Chopped and Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and those shows are still cool to me to this day. I have to disagree with your opinions on cilantro though, I think it’s so amazing and a must when I cook Mexican food. I hope you have a great rest of your semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Luda! That is so cool that you are pre-med! I also love cooking and baking. My favorite thing to make is pasta. I also love reality TV! Sadly, I haven't been able to watch ANY of the Bachelor this season. That show is hilarious to me, I can never take it seriously! One cool thing is that the last bachelorette on the show went to my high school in California.
ReplyDeleteHi Luda! I think being pre-med biology is such a cool major! I loved my biology classes and find it so interesting as well. I love testing out new goodies in the kitchen as well and I think last year was the best time to venture out a bit. I have never really loved reality tv but my roommate has got me hooked on a number of shows and I just keep getting invested before I even know what is happening!

ReplyDeleteHi Luda! I love that your drive to be a biology pre-med major, is so that one day you can create an impact on someone’ life! That sounds amazing! I am glad you enjoy the subject and degree that you are pursuing! I am genuinely not a fan of biology! Just like you, I also cooked a lot during quarantine! It was so fun! Have an amazing rest of the semester!
